Who is this course for?
The VTCT (ITEC) Level 2 Award in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Beauty Therapy and Nail Services is a knowledge-based qualification aimed at beauty therapists and nail technicians, who need to understand the COVID-19 infection prevention methods required in order to maintain high levels of health and safety in the provision of their services to clients. There are no prerequisites for this qualification, therefore anyone can take this course to learn how to prevent infection and transmission of the COVID-19 virus in their daily lives.
Overview of this Course
This qualification is composed of a single unit. The aim of the unit is to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding of how to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and how to work safely. Learners will develop knowledge on the importance of social responsibility, the causes, transmission and effects of COVID-19, and the methods used to control transmission such as correct hand hygiene and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). They will also gain an understanding of the safe working practices required in the beauty salon or nail bar to protect themselves and their clients.
There are six learning outcomes in this unit and you can work through each learning outcome at your own pace.
How Is This Course Assessed?
Once you have completed each of the learning outcomes, you will then complete a multiple choice question paper. This has a pass mark of 70%. You can book to sit this paper online once you have completed the learning outcomes. Test papers are marked externally by VTCT. Certificates of achievement usually take between 4-6weeks to arrive at the Academy.
